
MOSCOW, Aug. 10 -- China's new Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui arrived here on Saturday to replace his predecessor Li Hui, who left the post last week after 10 years in office.
At the Sheremetyevo International Airport, Zhang was received by officials of the Chinese Embassy, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry as well as Chinese and Russian journalists.
Zhang told reporters that the China-Russia relations are important not only for the two countries but also for maintaining global peace and stability.
Zhang said that he will work to strengthen the China-Russia ties and deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two neighbors.
Zhang was the Chinese ambassador to Kazakhstan from 2014 to 2018, assistant foreign minister from 2018 to 2019 and deputy foreign minister in 2019.
