
NANCHANG, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's top seed Zhang Shuai and Peng Shuai move into the second round of the 2019 WTA Jiangxi Open here on Tuesday.
Zhang beat Serbia's Aleksandra Krunic 6-3 and 6-3 with aggressive play in the two sets.
On the other hand, Peng also received her first victory in her third time in the tournament. After a 76 minutes match, Peng had a 6-4, 6-2 win over her Spanish opponent Paula Badosa.
Despite the singles, Zhang and Peng jointly participate in the doubles. "Participating in both singles and doubles brings me challenges, but I will try my best in each following match," said Peng, the 33-year-old player.
Also on Tuesday, the former Grand Slam winner Samantha Stosur beat her Australian compatriot Arina Rodionova 7-6, 6-3. And in an all Chinese affair, Wang Xinyu took two hours and 17 minutes to win a 5-7, 6-0 and 7-5 hard-fought victory over Gao Xinyu.
