
KUNMING, Sept. 12 -- Two suspects were caught with more than 21 kg of drugs seized in southwest China's Yunnan Province, a major front in the country's battle against drug crime, local police said.
After receiving a tip-off regarding drug trafficking on Aug. 12, police in Yongping County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, initiated an investigation into the case.
Later that day, police intercepted a suspected vehicle at a toll station in Yongping. Two suspects were arrested and 32 pieces of heroin and 10 packages of methamphetamine weighing 21.22 kg were seized from two suitcases carried by one of the suspects.
The two suspects have been put under criminal detention for further investigation.
Yunnan borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
