BEIJING, Sept. 20 -- China Post, the country's official postal service operator, announced on Friday it will issue a set of five commemorative stamps and a souvenir sheet on Oct. 1 to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Decorated with patterns such as high-speed trains, cultural facilities and green mountains, the stamps portray five different aspects of Chinese society over the past 70 years: the continuous and sound development of the economy, the progress of socialist democracy, the flourishing of culture, the continuous improvement of people's life and the construction of a beautiful China.
Named "Best wishes to the motherland," the souvenir sheet bears the patterns of the number 70, peony flowers, a gigantic ship and Chinese people of different ethnic groups singing and dancing.
