
TAIPEI, Oct. 3 -- A tourist from the Chinese mainland has gone missing while diving in Pingtung County in southern Taiwan on Wednesday, according to the mainland-based Association for Tourism Exchange across the Taiwan Strait and local authorities in Taiwan.
The tourist, surnamed Qiu, and his father visited Taiwan as individual tourists. He went diving with a Taiwan coach and a Taiwan tourist Wednesday morning. They were carried away by strong currents.
The coach was saved by locals on Wednesday evening. Rescue for the two missing tourists is underway.
