A police officer helped visitors fish up six phones by using his self-made tool during the national holiday in Hangzhou. His behavior attracted many people’s attentions, and suddenly become popular online.
Zhou Xiangjun, 59, has been working at West Lake police station in Hangzhou for 18 years. Except for his own work as a policeman, he also had a special job – helping tourists fish up things by using his self-made salvage rod.

The total value of the things he has fished up was about one million yuan, including six unmanned aerial vehicles, six iPad, two single-lens reflex cameras and so on.
Zhou said that he designed the tool himself since he used to work as an auto repairman and bench worker, and had experience making things. In the beginning, he just used a magnet and a rope to fish up tourists’ belongings. But now, the tool has been updated to the sixth generation, which was capable of fishing up a phone in 3 minutes.
Zhou mentioned that fishing up tourists’ belongings is not as easy as many people think. His neck and hands feel really tired after fishing up things for a longtime, especially being exposed to so much heat.

When asked about the retiring time, he said, “I trained several apprentices to take over my job, otherwise I would feel sorry for the tourists if no one could fish up mobile phones after I retired.”
