Sorrentino Giuseppe has been the chief engineer of the Nanhai Discovery ship since the ship arrived in China. For more than two decades, he has spent half time in Italy and half in China. In his words, "My family is in Italy, but my friends are in China, all on this ship." Giuseppe teaches apprentices by his words and deeds with no reservations. Gradually, he had similar family ties to his Chinese friends and even China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
