
BEIJING, Oct. 12 -- Like the Yangtze and Ganges rivers, China and India's relationship never stops flowing and is always moving forward.
As two big emerging economies, China and India are both important drivers of world economic growth. The great cooperation between the two great nations will create global influence that can underpin regional and global stability.
The following facts and figures offer a glimpse into the various fronts of the unbreakable relationship:
-- Bilateral trade volume between China and India reached 95.54 billion U.S. dollars in 2018, up 13.2 percent year on year.
-- China's direct investment in India hit 4.75 billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2017, while India's actual investment in China amounted to 900 million U.S. dollars by the end of 2018.
-- High-level political conversations between China and India are constant, as the two countries agreed to establish a high-level people-to-people exchanges mechanism in April last year. The first meeting of the mechanism was held in New Delhi in December 2018, and the second meeting in Beijing in August this year.
-- China-India cooperations in traditional medicine is expected to be enhanced, as China's first Sanskrit-Chinese medical dictionary is likely to be published by the end of 2020. The dictionary of around 10,000 entries will help Chinese scholars learn more about traditional Indian medicine.
-- A slew of Bollywood blockbusters including "Dangal" and "Hindi Medium" proved smash hits in China in the past few years, and an "Indian Film Week" was part of the 9th Beijing International Film Festival in April 2019.
-- On Sept. 16, IndiGo Airlines opened a direct flight between Delhi and Chengdu, capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, marking the first time for the Indian budget airline to enter the Chinese mainland market.
-- Chinese smartphone brands are increasingly popular in India, with tech giant Xiaomi selling more than 100 million smartphones in the neighboring country since 2014 when it first entered the market, Indian media reported.
-- Chinese coffee chain brand Luckin Coffee also announced plans to explore the Indian market via a partnership with Americana Group, the largest integrated food product company in the Middle East.
