
HONG KONG, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's goods exports and imports volume continued to decline in August, the statistical authority said on Tuesday.
Exports volume dropped 7.2 percent from a year ago in August, sharper than the 6.6-percent loss registered in July, according to a statement of Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Imports volume went down 11.9 percent year-on-year in August, dropping faster than the 9.7-percent pace in the previous month.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of goods exports fell 4.5 percent in the three-month period ending August compared with the preceding three months, while the volume of goods imports dropped 4.4 percent.
Comparing the first eight months of 2019 with the same period in 2018, the volume of goods exports decreased 5.6 percent, while that of goods imports lost 7.5 percent.
