BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Top political advisor Wang Yang Thursday called for continuous efforts to win the battle against poverty, while meeting with people who have been honored for their poverty-reduction efforts.
Decisive progress has been made in poverty alleviation, said Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Noting poverty alleviation remains an arduous task, Wang ordered efforts to provide focused assistance to areas of extreme poverty and ensure the battle will be won as scheduled.
Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chief of the State Council Leading Group of Poverty Alleviation and Development, also attended the meeting.
