A Chinese AI team ranked first in Chinese and English video captioning at the VATEX Captioning Challenge 2019 of the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), a premier international computer vision event held in Seoul, South Korea.

The ICCV came to a close on Nov. 2, 2019. The champion team, Team Forence-CASIA, comprised of personnel from the video content security team of the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and a Chinese artificial intelligence technology company co-established by the Institute of Automation, CAS and People's Daily Online.
The win was down to substantial technical accumulation, said Li Bing, one of the team members.
Li added that the video content security team had been deeply engaged in video understanding and content security for nearly 20 years, and had published more than 200 papers in authoritative international academic journals and conferences on artificial intelligence.
