BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- "Taiwan independence" is an impassable dead end that will only bring grave consequences to the island, a mainland spokesperson said Thursday.
"Our motherland must be reunified, and will surely be reunified. This is unstoppable by any person or any force," said Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson with the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, in response to relevant comments by a politician of Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Ma said the comments fully reveal the politician's intention of seeking political and electoral interests at the price of damaging the fundamental interests of compatriots across the Taiwan Strait, particularly compatriots in Taiwan.
"These comments completely tore off the DPP administration's mask of so-called non-provocation," he said.
