KUNMING, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province have captured three drug trafficking suspects and seized 13.17 kg of drugs, local authorities said Saturday.
After receiving a tip-off that drug dealers were trafficking drugs from Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture to the neighboring city of Tengchong on Nov. 14, police in Tengchong dispatched a task force to investigate.
At around 10 a.m. that day, police officers intercepted a suspected vehicle in Zhonghe Township, Tengchong, with three suspects caught and opium weighing 13.17 kg seized on the spot.
The three suspects have been put under criminal detention. Further investigation is underway.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
