
BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Tuesday met with a delegation from the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC).
Yang, also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, called on both China and the United States to respect each other's political system and development path, increase strategic communication and properly manage differences, in order to promote bilateral relations featuring coordination, cooperation and stability.
He reiterated China's stance on issues including those concerning Hong Kong.
Representatives of the AFPC delegation said U.S.-China relations with global influence require further communication and mutual trust of both sides, and the council is willing to make efforts to help maintain and promote the bilateral relations.
