
BEIJING, Dec. 4 -- Wang Chen, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, stressed carrying forward the spirit of China's Constitution and elevating the comprehensive implementation of the Constitution to a new level.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks at a symposium marking the sixth Constitution Day on Wednesday.
The comprehensive implementation of the Constitution is of great significance to modernize China's system and capacity for governance, said Wang, adding that promoting the spirit of the Constitution is crucial to strengthening confidence in the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
He urged efforts to safeguard the authority and sanctity of the Constitution, uphold and implement the Party leadership system, adhere to and improve the system of people's congresses and improve the Chinese socialist system of laws with the Constitution at the heart, so as to better translate China's institutional strengths into effective governance.
Wang also stressed strengthening the education on the Constitution among the public at the symposium.
