BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1.65 million people in need have benefited from charity programs launched by the China Siyuan Foundation for Poverty Alleviation in 2019, the foundation said on Monday.
The nationwide public offering foundation was established in 2007 by the Central Committee of China National Democratic Construction Association, aiming to prompt enterprise engagement in poverty relief and other charity projects.
The foundation has donated more than 34 million yuan (around 4.86 million U.S. dollars) through medical and healthcare projects, offered 242 ambulances to hospitals in poverty-stricken regions, aided about 5,000 children with serious diseases such as congenital heart disease and provided over 76.8 million yuan for schools and students in 2019.
The foundation has also made great efforts working with e-commerce platforms to help farmers from poverty-stricken counties across the country promote their agricultural products.
