
TEHRAN, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) condemned the recent U.S. military attack in Iraq, Tasnim news agency reported on Tuesday.
The U.S. airstrikes on the positions of the Iraqi paramilitary forces is a "violation of Iraq's sovereignty," the IRGC said in a statement.
Based on the international law, the Iraqis reserve the right to "respond to the recent big crime committed by the Americans," it said.
"The criminal act by the U.S. forces once again proved that the United States is the root cause of insecurity, chaos and tensions in the region," it added.
On Sunday, the U.S. military launched deadly airstrikes on three locations in Iraq and two in Syria controlled by Kata'ib Hezbollah paramilitary group in Iraq.
