XINING, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Qinghai Province has added another seven wetland parks at the national level, bringing the total number to 10.
The province is home to the sources of the Yangtze, the Yellow River and the Lancang River. It covers a wetland area of more than 8 million hectares, or more than 15 percent of the country's total, the highest rate in China.
"Our efforts in the parks have effectively enhanced the ecosystems," said Wang Xiaofa, with the provincial forestry bureau. "The numbers of birds and aquatic animals have increased significantly."
