BEIJING, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese railway police apprehended 58,757 fugitives in 2019, with an average of 160 fugitives captured at railway stations and on trains every day, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
Among them were 246 fugitives involved in homicide cases, of whom 35 had absconded for more than 20 years, said the ministry's railway public security bureau in a statement.
The bureau noted that closer regional cooperation and enhanced quick response capabilities have helped railway police better carry out their work.
Railway police in cities including Jinan, Qingdao and Hangzhou nabbed 3,984, 2,902 and 2,859 fugitives respectively, ranking the top three of 75 railway public security offices nationwide.
