Nestled in the river-surrounded mountain area, Liulinhe, a small repair station, safeguards the 19-27 kilometer section of the Taixin railway that connects Taiyuan and Lvliang, two cities in Shanxi Province. For the past 15 years, Li Sanbao, a railway worker, has been working in this remote region, without roads or the mobile network connecting the outside world. During each and every Spring Festival, instead of reuniting with his family, he chooses to remain at his post, offering the chance of celebrating the festival with family members selflessly to his work colleagues.
This year, again, Li missed the chance of celebrating the festival with his family. In an effort to fulfill his daughter’s wish to take a family picture together, Li, his wife, and daughter decided to meet at the 19-kilometer railway mark, which is the only car-reachable spot in the mountains. Li will have to go through 4 tunnels to enjoy the valuable reunion.
