With the pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus now breaking out in countries around the world, hospitals in east China’s Zhejiang province have actively shared their experience in fighting the virus via video calls or e-mails.

Early on March 18, medical experts with the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, held an hour-long video conference with medical professors from Yale University in which they shared effective treatment and protective measures for medical workers.

The hospital has also contacted three hospitals in Italy and medical experts from Argentina. “By bringing the Chinese experience to the rest of the world, we hope to save time for other countries in the fight against the virus and benefit more patients,” said Liang Tingbo, secretary of the Communist Party of China committee with the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

The hospital, together with the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation, issued a guide for pneumonia prevention on March 18. The guidebook combines the guidance of the National Health Commission with the hospital’s actual experience. Practical and suited for medical institutions, it is believed to be helpful to other countries stricken by the pneumonia outbreak.

“The English version of this manual has been released, with the Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Spanish versions to be launched soon,” Liang noted, adding that the hospital will conduct regular exchanges with institutions from other countries on epidemic prevention and control.
