DHAKA, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh Friday afternoon received 30,000 COVID-19 testing reagents as a gift from the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation.
The consignment was delivered in a special Chinese plane that had flown to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in capital Dhaka.
Bangladesh's Health Ministry officials received the testing reagents, a Chinese Embassy official said here Friday.
The donation came after a large consignment of emergency medical supplies provided by the Chinese government to the Bangladeshi government after Dhaka's urgent request arrived on Thursday afternoon.
Furthermore, 300,000 masks as the donation of the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation will arrive on March 29.
Bangladesh is reportedly in dire need for such medical supplies as the entire situation escalates in the country.
On Friday, four more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bangladesh, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 48 in the country.
Bangladesh on Wednesday announced the country's fifth death related to COVID-19.
