WUHAN, March 30 (Xinhua) -- As of Sunday noon, 471 out of the 483 total industrial enterprises above designated size in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone had resumed work, with an operating rate of 97.52 percent.
A total of 42,489 people worked in the zone that day, with an arrival rate of 33.14 percent.
Located in the southwest of Wuhan, the zone is a state-level economic and technological development zone.
The total industrial output value above designated size of the zone accounts for about 25 percent of that of Wuhan and 8 percent of Hubei Province. It serves as a main engine of the industrial economy of the city and the province.
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the local government has issued policies to support the steady and healthy development of enterprises and promote the orderly resumption of work and production of enterprises by reducing their burden, strengthening financial support and optimizing government services.
Yan Shicheng, director of the Economic and Information Bureau of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, said the zone has stepped up the processing of work resumption permits and arranged dormitories and commuter vehicles for workers and employees among other methods to promote work resumption.
So far, a total of more than 100,000 pass cards have been handled, while more than 7,000 dormitory beds and 2,000 buses have been arranged.
Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone also allocated subsidies to enterprises to boost employment and investment.
