HEFEI/XINING/CHANGSHA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Following incessant heavy rainfall in recent days, several provinces in China have initiated emergency response for flood control.

East China's Anhui Province on Tuesday issued a Level IV emergency response, the lowest in China's four-tier emergency response system, for flood control.

Downpours forced water current to exceed danger levels in several rivers in Anhui Province. Heavy rainfall is expected in the province in the next two days.

In order to ensure the safety of life, property and important infrastructure, Qinghai Province issued a Level IV emergency response for flood control on June 20.

Heavy downpours and floods disrupted lives of 700,000 residents in the city of Huaihua, central China's Hunan Province, local authorities said Tuesday.

Hongjiang District on Tuesday issued a Level I emergency response for flood control, as a fresh spell of rain is expected to lash the region in the next two days.
