BEIJING, Nov. 27 -- Chinese authorities uncovered 287 batches of substandard imported food in October, according to figures released by China's general administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine (AQSIQ) here on Wednesday.
Wrong labeling, poor quality and food additives were the major problems found with imports from 34 countries or regions.
The substandard food covered 17 categories, mainly candies, biscuits and beverages, according to the AQSIQ website.
The AQSIQ also uncovered 3 batches of substandard cosmetic products imported from 4 countries or regions, which were either wrongly labelled, with forbidden or restricted substances, or did not match their certificates.
These products were either sent back or destroyed and did not enter the Chinese market. Further details will be published on the AQSIQ website.
