MACAO, Dec. 18 -- Macao's Legislative Assembly has passed the 2015 Budget, which estimates a narrowly increased revenue, local Business Daily reported on Thursday.

The new budget predicts that the total revenue of the government in the coming year will reach 155 billion patacas (19.406 billion U.S. dollars), up merely 0.7 percent, said the report.

The budgeted total expenditure will be 83.7 billion patacas (10.48 billion U.S. dollars), a rise of 7.8 percent.

The slight growth in the revenue is due to expectation that the region's pillar gaming industry is likely to sustain a slowdown in the coming year.

The casino sector, accounting for around 80 percent of Macao's total revenue, is to see a shrinking income amid the region's efforts to diversify its economy.

The 2015 Budget depicts the Macao government's "fruit sharing" policy, which aims at allowing the common people to share the benefit of the region's economic growth.

Permanent residents will get an average yearly cash handout of 9,000 patacas (1,126.8 U.S. dollars) under the new budget, while public servants will see a salary increase.
