NAY PYI TAW, June 24 -- Myanmar will work together with China to continually uphold the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, said Presidential spokesperson U Ye Htut in an interview with Xinhua Tuesday.
U Ye Htut stressed that 60 years ago, leaders from Myanmar, China and India courageously made the historic decision to introduce the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence which have become basic norms and guiding principles in international relations.
He noted that since the introduction of the five principles 60 years ago, they made the monumental contribution to the maintenance of peace and stability of Asia as well as the world.
"We are proud for jointly holding the 60th Anniversary of the Announcement of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence," he said.
On Myanmar President U Thein Sein's visit to China, the official said, "we believe that the goodwill visit can strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative ties between China and Myanmar."
According to official announcement here on the same day, U Thein Sein will pay a four-day goodwill visit to China and will be subsequently attending the commemorative ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the announcement of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence by Myanmar, China and India to be held in Beijing on June 28.
