BEIJING, June 25 -- China's top political advisor, Yu Zhengsheng, has urged political advisors to try their best to research and solve key issues in the country's reform drive.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks on Wednesday at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, China's top political advisory body.
"In-depth research should be launched on specific problems so as to figure out practical and effective ideas and methods to solve them," Yu said.
He also called for strengthened democratic supervision over the reform to report real situations and point out weaknesses.
During the three-day meeting that ended on Wednesday, Vice Premier Wang Yang made a speech vowing a decisive role for market forces in allocating resources while letting the government better serve its duty.
A series of personnel changes were approved at the meeting. One decision saw Su Rong, who is being probed for suspected disciplinary violations, removed from his post as vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
Su was also stripped of his membership of the committee.
At the meeting, participants also endorsed decisions to expel Song Lin, former China Resources chairman, and Ye Wanyong, former political commissar of the People's Liberation Army's Sichuan Military Area Command, from the CPPCC National Committee.
