Around 340 families in Lushan County, central China's Henan province are faced by drinking water difficulties because of draught.
In order to meet the daily water demand of the elderly whose children are working outside of the county and people who are living alone, villagers and local militia spontaneously formed a team to send water. Villagers offer free water sources to the team. After getting the water, team members deliver it to each family by motorcycle. Team members usually have to walk three kilometers on the mountain path carrying 30 kilograms of water before they can arrive at the homes of the elderly.
More people are joining this team. Each member delivers water to about three families twice a day. To guarantee timely water delivery, the village committee announced a water delivery hotline.
