BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) have urged continued momentum in the ongoing "mass-line" campaign to ensure "an ending as attentively achieved as the beginning".

The "mass-line" campaign was launched in June last year by Chinese leaders to boost ties between CPC officials and the public, while cleaning up undesirable work styles such as formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance.

As part of the design, Xi and six other Standing Committee members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, are each allocated a county to supervise. Xi, who also holds the position of general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, has been paired with Lankao county in Henan.

On Aug. 27, Henan Party chief Guo Gengmao briefed Xi on the latest results of the campaign. Party chiefs of Inner Mongolia, Fujian, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Shandong and Jilin followed by reporting to each of their pairing leaders.

Friday's remarks were carried in a statement that summarized the seven senior officials' requirements for the implementation of the campaign after they heard local officials' reports.

While praising the positive results in correcting officials' misconduct, the statement stressed the campaign is now in the most crucial stage and urged Party members to maintain a strict standards to ensure an ending as attentively achieved as the beginning.

During the campaign, Party members are required to examine their own conduct, lay out problems, analyze the causes and set down plans for rectification.

"We must see to it that promises made by officials to correct their mistakes are absolutely fulfilled, and those responsible for supervising the mistake-correcting phase must bring it home on a case by case basis," it said.

According to the statement, thorough efforts should be made to solve problems "both severe and light, common and individual, temporary and long-term," with a special focus on grassroots Party organizations.

"The ultimate score of the campaign is subject to people's evaluations, and only their satisfaction means a pass," it said.

The leadership noted that, despite an ending for the campaign, walking the line of the people and improving work style are an eternal mission to guide officials to fully shoulder the role of a servant for the people.

According to the statement, results of the campaign should be transformed into an impetus for the country's scientific development and the improvements of people's livelihoods.

It called for the integration of "the central authorities' requirements, people's expectations, realistic needs and fresh experiences" in mapping out a long-term mechanism to root out the soil where questionable life and work styles grow.

"Understand and win people's hearts via the campaign," it said.
