On the night of August 26, Wa Tribe, a pristine Wa nationality song and dance show created around the theme of "Godsend Pu'er, Tea Source of the World," was staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
Wa Tribe is a show created by Pu'er City using its local cultural elements. It is also one of the key cultural projects of Pu'er City and even of Yunnan Province.
Wa Tribe draws its subject matter from the rich cultural heritage that has been accumulated over thousands of years as the ancestors of the Wa people in Pu'er lived and multiplied, incorporating many elements of Wa nationality culture, including the people's myths, legends, tradition of making sacrifices, clothes, and primitive production and life. All its performers, among whom there are professional dancers, folk artists, and farmers who do nothing but live in the mountains and toil over the soil, come from Ximeng Wa Nationality Autonomous County.
From August 28 until September 13, Wa Tribe will go on a tour of 11 cities across the country. During the tour, the show will serve as a platform to facilitate tourism promotions and efforts to attract investments and businesses by demonstrating Pu'er in an all-around fashion.
