UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- China always views and develops its relations with Turkey from a strategic height, and is willing to make concerted efforts with the Turkish side to lift their strategic cooperative relationship to a higher level, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here Saturday.
Bilateral ties have maintained the momentum for rapid development since China and Turkey established the strategic cooperative relationship in 2010, Wang said during a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, on the sidelines of the ongoing high-level debate of the UN General Assembly.
Regular meetings between the two countries' leaders should be kept and play an irreplaceable leading role in bilateral relations, he said, adding that the two sides should also respect each other's core interests and major concerns.
China and Turkey should tap the potential to the full to further strengthen their pragmatic cooperation in such fields as high-speed rail and nuclear energy and jointly build "One Belt and One Road", namely the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road", he said.
Wang also called on the two countries to deepen coordination in multilateral organizations like the United Nations and the G20 and to safeguard the common interests of developing nations.
For his part, Cavusoglu said Turkey attaches great importance to its relations with China and adheres to the one-China policy.
Turkey is willing to keep high-level exchanges with China, actively participate in building "One Belt and One Road", expand cooperation in such areas as trade, investment and tourism, and enhance coordination in international affairs, he said.
Cavusoglu said his country will work with China to continuously add new content and fresh momentum into bilateral relations.
