BEIJING, Sept. 29 -- The Beijing Traditional Brands Association has announced that, after the completion of an application for municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage status this year, Beijing Snacks will launch a campaign to apply for national-level heritage status.
A collective application for Beijing Snacks was initiated by the Beijing Traditional Brands Association in November, 2010. As a BTBA official stated, Beijing Snacks includes many kinds of food products and brands with unique historical background and artistry, each of which is not influential enough to individually apply for intangible heritage status, with the exception of some special brands like Duyichu. Therefore, BTBA decided to bring the different products together and apply for heritage status as a group.
