SYDNEY, Oct. 8 -- The City of Sydney will shine the spotlight on Chinatown’s world-class restaurants and talented chefs this October to celebrate its fourth annual ‘Asia on Your Doorstep’ festival.
Over four Friday nights next month, food lovers will flock to Little Hay Street in the heart of Haymarket to taste the mouth-watering fare of more than 15 take-away Asian food stalls selling everything from Chinese yum cha favourites to Vietnamese pho.
Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore said she encouraged Sydneysiders and visitors alike to immerse themselves in all Chinatown has to offer during Asia on Your Doorstep. “Chinatown is one of Sydney’s biggest attractions, with almost half of all international tourists to our city visiting the precinct’s restaurants, bars and shops,” she said.
“This festival gives people even more reasons to explore this fantastic area, enjoy the delicious Asian cuisine on offer, and see world-class chefs at work.”
The festival coincides with the publication of the 2014 edition of the City’s Chinatown & Haymarket Food Lover’s Guide, a colourful guide to the area’s many restaurants, bars, bakeries, teahouses and other dining hot spots.
On 10, 17, 24 and 31 October, Little Hay Street will be transformed into the ‘Little Eat Street’ markets from 5 pm, giving visitors a chance to tuck into yum cha, teppanyaki, sushi and pho, among other iconic and lesser-known Asian dishes.
