ESA (European Space Agency) has confirmed that the Philae probe landed on the surface of a comet named Churyumov-Gerasimenko on the evening of Nov. 12, 2014.
This is the first controlled landing of a spacecraft on a comet in history.
From the photos taken from high altitude, the comet in irregular shape looks like a rubber duck.
After landing on the comet, 10 experimental apparatus of the Philae will carry out analysis of soil and magnetic field there. Scientists will have a deeper understanding of the comet that was formed in the earliest years of the solar system, helping them with further research of the human origin.
