Upon his arrival, Xi extended sincere greetings and good wishes to the Australian people.
"I am looking forward to working with Australian leaders and friends from all sectors in my visit to lift China-Australia relations to a new height, and bring bilateral cooperation in various fields to a new level," said Xi.
He said he expects to make joint efforts with leaders attending the G20 Summit to advance global economic governance, address various challenges together and promote common development and prosperity.
After the summit, Xi will go to Canberra to pay a state visit to Australia, during which he will hold talks with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and deliver a speech at the parliament.
Australia is the first leg of Xi's ongoing tour, which will also take him to New Zealand and Fiji.
