Previously, a man's story living in a cave to save money for his family gripped the public, but he later admitted that he lied.
Shi Zhiyong said that he has not been in contact with or mailed money to his family since he left home six years ago, jntimes.com.cn reported Wednesday.
He had taken different jobs during his years of wandering until he settled down in a cave in Jinan, East China's Shandong province, the report said. He also explained he lied because he did not want his family to find him.
Shi's uncle and other family members, who were out of touch with him for years, drove to the cave to pick him up on Tuesday night after seeing the media reports.
