
Johannesburg, March 4 (People’s Daily Online) — The China Town in Johannesburg held a street party to celebrate Lunar New Year with Dragon Dance parade, fireworks display, along with loads of eating and drinking and general merry-making.
Besides overseas Chinese community, thousands of local South Africans have diarized last Saturday to join in the celebration of the Year of Sheep. The event got caught in a light shower, which injected much more fun and uniqueness into the function. In Chinese culture, raining traditionally indicates a coming year of peace, harvest and fortune.
