
SHENYANG, March 20 -- A fireman was killed and another seven firemen were injured while trying to put out a factory fire in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Friday morning, according to the local publicity authority.
A fire and an explosion happened at Zhoujianliang Aluminum Smelter at about 9 a.m. in Yong'an Township, Dashiqiao City, according to the publicity department of Yingkou City, which administers Dashiqiao.
The fireman who was killed died at the scene. Among the seven injured, one sustained serious injuries. The fire has been extinguished.
The owner of the factory is in police detention.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
