A sesame seed cake shop run by a couple in Shiquan county of Ankang, northwest China's Shaanxi province has a flourishing business. Chen Jianxin, who has made sesame cakes for 30 years, said: "Both locals and tourists love my sesame cakes. No matter how many cakes I make, I can sell them out in a day. I am very proud of that."
Cooked in a unique way, Chen's sesame seed cake is a specialty of Shiquan county. The cake is made of raw dough instead of leavened dough, and is baked on both sides, which make it crispy outside and soft inside with sesame fragrance.
Chen Jianxin began to make the sesame seed cake in 1980s. At first, she made the cake alone. After her husband Liang Caishi retired, the couple began to work together. They have made quite a fortune by making the cake.
