Oiled paper umbrella has become romantic scenery in streets and lanes of Luzhou city, southwest China's Sichuan province. People in the city have been making oiled paper umbrellas for more than 400 years, and this craft is a national intangible cultural heritage.
In recent years the local government and inheritors have taken active actions to promote the umbrella in domestic and foreign markets. Working with colleges to train personnel, taking advantage of the Internet sales and cultural expositions, they have made oiled paper umbrella popular both home and abroad.
