Comprising temples, pagodas, pavilions, gardens, causeways and islands, the West Lake is famous for its picturesque scenery as well as the historic relics. The lake was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 2011, described as "has influenced garden design in the rest of China as well as Japan and Korea over the centuries".
