
Beijing May 13 (People's Daily Online) — 2015 BFSU EU Languages and Cultures Festival was opened in Beijing on May 12, 2015. Jointly sponsored by Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), EU delegation to China and Polish Embassy, the 8-day festival will feature a series of activities to promote understandings of European languages and culture among Chinese people, including academic forums, European carnival and film panorama.
The year 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the European Union (EU) and China. As part of the opening ceremony of the festival, a picture exhibition on China-EU relations "Joining hands for 40 years" was held on the campus of BFSU.
The exhibition has four parts: EU Profile, China and the EU, Relations between China and EU members, and BFSU's contribution to China-EU relations. Through nearly 200 precious pictures, the exhibition shows the development of China-EU relations from different angles.
BFSU plays an important role in China-EU relations as a prestigious university in foreign studies. Currently, it is the only university in China that teaches all the 24 languages of the 28 EU member countries. Graduates of BFSU have made great contribution in communications between China and European countries.
