The Ebola reagent kit developed by a company in Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park has been included in its official procurement list by the World Health Organization (WHO) and recommended to the world as a method to test Ebola virus.
This is the first time that a Chinese company has been recommended by the WHO, which marks China's abilities in gene testing and diagnosis has reached the international level.
To help control Ebola in Africa, the WHO has been collecting Ebola reagent kits from around the world. Shanghai ZJ Bio-tech company developed the Ebola reagent kit in five months, which was the only product in Asia that was selected by the WHO.
The WHO authorized four reagent kits this time, among which ZJ Bio-tech's is the most sensitive and comprehensive one. This reagent kit is also the first in the world that got CE certification from the European Union.
