The first restaurant that helps people with intellectual disability and provides them with equal opportunities in society opened in Changchun, May 19, 2015. 12 intellectual challenged people earned their first official job after trainings.

The owner of Forrest Gump Restaurant (which is based on the movie Forrest Gump) is Hu Yanping, who was elected as a "moving China" internet figure in 2011. Hu Yanping has been helping hundreds of people with intellectual disability. "Gump restaurant is not aiming at making a lot of money, but to provide those people with an opportunity to work," said Hu, "I hope they can also find their happiness, dignity, and value in working." Jilin province has devoted to providing job opportunities for the disables. Last year, 8,464 people with disabilities got jobs, and 34,401 were trained.
