About 15,000 students attended the 261th commencement of Columbia University, among them there were about 600 Chinese students. According to statistics, Chinese students in US colleges had increased from 235,597 to 274,439 from 2013 to 2014 with a growth rate of 16.5 percent. Of all the international students studying in the US, the number of Chinese students is now still the largest, which takes 31 percent of the total number of international student in the country.
