A new regulation has simplified the procedure for foreigners to buy a house, and provides them with better services.
Starting from June 1, 2015, foreigners who intend to purchase a house in Beijing do not need to provide the paper version of "Residence Status Certificate", but can directly apply with their valid ID through agencies with network service. After 10 business days, they can move on to the next step with the approval.
The basic requirements for foreigners who want to buy a house in Beijing remain the same: first, they have lived in China for at least one year; second, they must not own other houses in China except the one they intends to buy; third, the house that they intend to buy is only for personal use (not for rent or other purposes).
