
BEIJING, July 20 -- A woman who allegedly abused her nine-year-old foster son is now facing prosecution for intentional injury by a district procuratorate in east China's Nanjing City, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate on Monday.
The public was outraged after photos of Li Zhengqin's foster son showed suspected lash marks on his back, legs and arms. The photos went viral in early April as people expressed anger over Li's treatment of her son. .
A medical appraisal found the boy suffered serious injuries which covered 10 percent of his body.
Nanjing police sought approval for Li's arrest from the local procuratorate on April 12.
