Recently, an aghast video in which a ground crew member was sucked in by a plane engine and devoured by a flash of fire was widely spread online. Many commented that planes and elevators were the two most fearsome things for them. It turns out that the video was fabricated.
According to the Daily Newspaper Thai Rath, the video was clipped. The original video was uploaded online in 2009. The plane was a cargo aircraft of LAN Airlines, which was about to take off in the original video.
Further scrutiny shows that “the victim” is the identical to the man walking in front of him, evidencing that the widespread video was edited and clipped.
Although the video was fabricated, there indeed were incidents where the plane sucked in human beings, according to Xinhua. On April 28, 2002, a ground crew member of Air China was sucked in by a flight engine in the Kansai International Airport on Osaka Bay, Japan.
