A 14-page users' guide drawn by a young man to show his mother how to use a smartphone has recently gone viral on Weibo, China's Twitter-like online platform.
Xing Liangliang, from southeast China's Heilongjiang Province, bought his mother a smartphone in early August. However, his parents, who lived in a rural village, didn't know much about how to use it. They had mainly been using older cell phones, without functions like internet connections or app installation. Xing's mother only knew how to operate the very basic functions on a smartphone.
Xing decided to draw a users' guide by himself to show his mother how to better use a smartphone.

According to Xing, he spent more than half a day to finish the drawings. Though Xing didn't learn drawing before and he admits to not having the best handwriting, he says his mother was surprised after receiving the gift and then put it away carefully.

Xing, who has been working for one year after college graduation, says he had little time to be with his parents since he went to college and that he always feels sorry for it.
After the hand-drawings were posted on Weibo, many netizens have applauded the move saying "they were full of love for his mother".
His mother has reportedly learnt how to take pictures and search for information quickly with her smartphone after reading the guides.
